Deepavali Programme at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka

The Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York hosted a Deepavali celebration on Saturday, 21st October 2017, at the Mission premises. The event brought together members of Sri Lanka’s Hindu community and those of different faiths in the Tri-State area as well as representatives from other UN Missions, including the Permanent Representative of Mauritius and the Deputy Permanent Representatives of India and Nepal.

H.E. Dr. Rohan Perera delivers welcome address at Sri Lanka Tourism Road Show in New York

Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dr. Amrith Rohan Perera delivered the welcome address at the Sri Lanka Tourism Road show which kicked off in New York today (02 October 2017). Tour operators and travel agents including a number of Sri Lankan destination management companies attended the road show which will move to Washington DC and Los Angeles on 03 and 05th October respectively. The road show is organised by the Sri Lanka tourism Promotion Bureau. 

President Sirisena concludes visit to New York for the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly

President Maithripala addressed the 72nd sessions of the UN General Assembly on 19 September 2017. This was the third time President Sirisena addressed the General Assembly. The theme of the General Assembly for this session is, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.
