Sri Lanka co-hosts an event to mark the 50th Anniversary of ICERD

Commemorating the occasion of 50th anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka co-hosted a panel discussion titled “Introducing tolerance on the internet - Changing attitudes and patterns of behavior” together with Permanent Missions of Poland, Ghana and Norway, today. The UN Department of Public information, UNESCO and African Union also took part in organizing this event.  

Sri Lanka accepts the Amendment to Article 20, Para 1 of the CEDAW

Sri Lanka deposited the instrument of acceptance to the Amendment to Article 20, para. 1 of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), today (21 July 2015). Sri Lanka takes the lead in celebrating first annual World Youth Skills Day at the UN

 A Conference to mark the first ever World Youth skills Day was held today (15 July 2015) at the UN headquarters in New York. The event was organized by the Permanent Missions of Sri Lanka and Portugal. UNESCO, ILO, and Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth also supported the efforts of the two missions in convening this event.

Sri Lanka ratifies the UN Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts

Sri Lanka ratified the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts and deposited the Instrument of Ratification at a ceremony held this morning (07 July 2015) in the UN Treaty Section. Ambassador Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN and the UN Officiating Officer Mrs. Arancha Hinojal participated at this event.

Sri Lanka today deposited the instrument of ratification of UN Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, especially women and children which is commonly called as the Trafficking Protocol of the Palermo Protocols, at a ceremony held in the UN Treaty Section, today.  Ambassador Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka and Mr. Santiago Villalpando, Chief of the Treaty Section, participated at this event.
