Commonwealth Secretary General calls on Prime Minister

Rt Hon. Patricia Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning (07 June 2017) at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in New York. Accompanying

 the Secretary General was Deputy Secretary General Deodat Maharaj and Ms. Rosemarie Cadogan, Interim Advisor and Head of the Ocean and Natural Resources Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat. The two leaders held 
discussions on a wide range of  issues relating to Sri Lanka's relations with the Commonwealth and other matters of mutual interest. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe extended a warm invitation to Secretary General Scotland to visit Sri Lanka.  Ambassador Dr. Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador A. Sabarullah Khan, Deputy Permanent Representative and Mrs. Sonali Samarasinghe, Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission also attended the meeting. 
 
Yesterday (06 June 2017) the Under Secretary General for Political Affairs at the United Nations, Mr. Jeff Feltman called on Prime Minister Wickremesinghe at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka where they discussed issues relating to Sri Lanka's reconciliation process and ongoing constitutional reform. Mr. Subinay Nandy, Director Asia and Pacific Division of the UN Department of Political Affairs was also present. Ambassador Dr. Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador A. Sabarullah Khan, Deputy Permanent Representative and Mrs. Sonali Samarasinghe, Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission also attended the meeting.
