Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama delivers his address at the High Level Plenary on Promotion for the International Day for Total elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

“The Pacific region has suffered the human and environmental consequences of more than 300 nuclear tests conducted since the end of the Second World War. These tests were conducted by powerful governments many thousands of kilometres away. They considered our corner of the globe to be a “safe” place to test nuclear weapons.”

In a moving solemn occasion, Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama paid tribute to Fijian peacekeepers that have served in peacekeeping missions at a special wreath laying ceremony held at the North Lawn Memorial within the United Nations headquarters compound.

A minute of silence was observed as the Bugler performed the “Last Post” to remember those Fijian men and women that have sacrificed their lives during their service in peacekeeping missions.

Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama delivers his speech at the High Level meeting on Action for Peacekeeping held at the Trustee Council Chamber, United Nations General Assembly.

Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama reminded leaders of Fiji’s 40 years of commitment towards peacekeeping and the great service it has offered to all Fijian families.

He made the comments at the High Level meeting on Action for Peacekeeping held at the Trustee Council Chamber, United Nations General Assembly on 25th September, 2018.

Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama met India’s Minister for External Affairs, Hon. Sushma Swaraj for a bilateral meeting.

Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama met India’s Minister for External Affairs, Hon. Sushma Swaraj for a bilateral meeting.

The meeting which took place at the United Nations General Assembly focused on strong ties the two countries have shared over the years.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister acknowledged India’s contribution to Fiji particularly in socio-economic development programs and engagements.

Fiji’s Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama and Norway Prime Minister Hon. Erna Solberg held bilateral talks along the margins of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York.

Fiji’s Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama and Norway Prime Minister Hon. Erna Solberg held bilateral talks along the margins of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, 24th September, 2018.

Prime Minister Bainimarama extended his appreciation to the Norway Prime Minister Hon. Elna Solberg for the Governments support received during Fiji’s Presidency at COP23.

Bainimarama met Ms. Solberg to talk about a range of issues, including the need for closer collaboration between Fiji and the Norway.

Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime, NDMO, Hon. Inia Seruiratu with other leaders at the ACP Central Negotiating Group (CNG) held in New York.

Leaders and ministers of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Central Negotiating Group (CNG) met today in the margins of the UN General Assembly (UNGA73) in New York to discuss the state of preparations leading up to the negotiation of the successor agreement to the Cotonou Partnership Agreement that will end in 2020.

Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime and NDMO, Hon. Inia Seruiratu led Fiji’s delegation to the meeting and was accompanied by Fiji’s Ambassador to Brussels, H.E. Deo Saran.

A traditional welcoming ceremony was accorded to the Fijian Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama and his delegation by the staff of Fiji’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York today.

The Prime Minister thanked the staff and other Fijians living in New York for their support in hosting the delegation to the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

PM Bainimarama was briefed on the week’s engagements in the margins of the UNGA.
