The United Nations Secretary General (UNSG), Antonio Guterres will be visiting Fiji next week as part of his first official visit to the Pacific.

Fiji has been represented at the UN Security Council open debate on, “Women, Peace and Security: Sexual Violence in Conflicts”. The meeting held earlier this week in New York was chaired by Germany’s Foreign Minister, Hon. Heiko Mass.
Fiji has been part of the UN Security Council’s peacekeeping operations debate held on the women in peacekeeping. The meeting held last week in New York was chaired by the German Federal Minister of Defence, Ursula von der Leyen.

Both leaders discussed the need for greater urgency by the world’s leaders in tackling climate change issues.
