Several Sri Lankan Travel Operators are participating in The New York Times Travel Show which is being held from 27th -29th January 2017 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.  Hon. Arundhika Fernando, Deputy Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs of Sri Lanka and H.E. Dr.

Sri Lanka was among the four countries which won Awards for Excellence which celebrate recent national and regional human development reports that have excelled in crafting and promoting human solutions to development challenges.  The human development reporting team of Sri Lanka was given the Award of Excellence for its 2014 National Human Development Report entitled “Youth and Development : Towards a More Inclusive Future”.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dr. Amrith Rohan Perera, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories, addressed the UN General Assembly at a special meeting convened to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, today (29 November 2016).

At an informal meeting of the plenary with the Secretary General designate, His Excellency António Guterres convened by the President of the General Assembly, Ambassador Dr. Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative  congratulated the PGA on the presidential text which was adopted by acclamation last week, appointing Mr. Antonio Guterres as the ninth Secretary General of the United Nations.
