At the High-Level Meeting on Critical Energy Transition Minerals held on Tuesday 14 July 2026 at the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Panapasi Nelesone shared Tuvalu’s perspective on supporting energy transition but emphasised that it must be grounded in equity, justice and responsible resource management. The transition provides an important opportunity for developing countries to strengthen energy security and diversify their economies.

Today marked the first day of negotiations at the United Nations on Sea-Level Rise and international law, where Ambassador and Permanent Representative H.E. Mr. Tapugao Falefou delivered Tuvalu’s national statement.
