Australian businesses are taking an increased interest in Mongolia as market opportunities expand from mining which accounts for approximately 20 per cent of GDP to the economy, to include water management solutions.
Today, President Elbegdorj has headed for Davos, Switzerland, to attend the 46th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum which is scheduled from January 19 to 23th, 2016.
World leaders will discuss important issues facing the globe, to seek future solutions, to launch new initiatives and to exchanges views on further measures at the WEF. The theme of the current Meeting is “Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution” which comprises over 250 sessions.
On 13 January, 2016, H.E.Mr. Sukhee Sukhbold, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations received representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) led by Mr.Ryan John Koch, Director, New York Office.
Since 1985, LDS Charities has provided aid to around 160 countries of the world in the fields of emergency response, food supply, clean water and sanitation, and health support initiatives including immunization.

Mongolia deeply regrets that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea conducted a nuclear test on 6 January 2016 in breach of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions. This nuclear test would lead to negative impacts on the efforts of the international community to maintain international peace and security and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Mongolia reaffirms its firm position for the maintenance of peace and security in North-East Asia and for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

State Secretary D.Gankhuyag conducted a press briefing on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The State Secretary introduced Mongolia’s Worldwide Promotion programme and Global Mongolians programme, which were passed by the Government meeting on Monday, 4 January 2016.
Mr. Gankhuyag further briefed the works the Ministry has done in the past year in efforts to strengthening the legal basis in international relations of Mongolia, while noting the important role of political and diplomatic means in safeguarding the country’s security.
