PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION EXPECTED ON JUNE 26

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Standing Committee on State Structure backed the parliamentary resolution on designating the date of the upcoming Presidential Election. The resolution sug­gests that voters in Mongolia will cast their ballots in the Presidential election on June 26, 2017. The Mongolian nationals, living out­side the country, would register their votes on June 10 and 11. The decision will be legitimized after the approval by the State Great Khural.

AUDITOR GENERAL OF MON­GOLIA APPOINTED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Dur­ing its session today, the Parliament discussed the appointment of new Au­ditor General of Mongolia who heads Mongolian National Audit Office, and approved of the proposed candidate D.Khurelbaatar who was nominated for the job in connection with Auditor Gen­eral A.Zangad’s request to be released from his duties.

CHINA, MONGOLIA AND RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO OPEN UP NEW ERA OF TRADE COOPERATION

A new era of trade cooperation between China, Mongolia and the Russian Federation was opened in Moscow on 8 December 2016, when the governments of the three countries signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport along the Asian Highway Network.

By signing the Agreement, each country agreed to give the other two countries traffic rights for international road transport operation on the parts of Asian Highway routes AH3 and AH 4 connecting their respective territories.

New York: On 3 November, the United Nations General Assembly adopted with consensus its resolution “Literacy for life: shaping future agendas” A/C3/71/L9/Rev1 .

The resolution introduced by Mongolia in an effort to continue the legacy of the United Nations Literacy Decade was co-sponsored by 101 Member States. It highlighted the need to eradicate illiteracy and promote education for all worldwide while implementing the global aspiration to have all youth and a substantial proportion of adults achieved literacy and numeracy by 2030.
