Meeting between Foreign Minister Dr. Faysal Mikdad and Foreign Ministers of Russia and UAE

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, the latest developments in the region and the world and issues of mutual concern.

Talks between the two minsters, that came on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, focused on the strategic relations between the two friendly states as viewpoints were identical on the necessity of pushing forwards towards establishing multi-polar world system that is based on the international law principles and UN convention rules.

Mikdad reiterated Syria’s support to the military special operation in Donbass and Russia’s right in defending itself against western hostile policies.

Lavrov, for his part, expressed his country’s continued support to Syria to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, combating terrorism and facing the unilateral economic embargo imposed on the country.

The two sides referred to the importance of Astana track and the need for coordination on different topics put on its agenda.

In the same context, Mikdad discussed with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdallah bin Zaid bilateral ties and means of enhancing them in all domains.

Mikdad briefed sheikh Abdallah on the latest developments in Syria and challenges that encounter the country, particularly regarding the impacts left by terrorism and the coercive measures that negatively affect the livelihood and economic situation on the Syrian people.

Sheikh Zaid, for his part, expressed his country’s commitment to Syria recovered as soon as possible and its return to play its normal role on the Arab and international arena.
