TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR PASSENGERS FROM OVERSEAS

ARRIVING IN SRI LANKA

In line with the latest Health guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services with regard to the

“Quarantine measures for travellers arriving from overseas during the pandemic of COVID-19”, please be mindful of the following requirements when travelling to Sri Lanka;

  • Sri Lankan passport holders DO NOT REQUIRE a COVID-19 Insurance coverage.
  • TOURIST VISA requires a mandatory Sri Lanka COVID-19 Insurance coverage to be purchased online https://portal.pionline.lk/covidinsurance/ or on arrival.
  • The Insurance coverage mentioned above costs USD 12 for the mandatory one-month insurance and has a cover of USD 50,000 including hospitalization if necessitated, due to COVID-19 infection.
  • It is recommended to obtain the insurance online prior to departure. However, the policy can be purchased prior to leaving the airport in Sri Lanka by any tourist visiting during the pandemic time.

 passengers travelling to Sri Lanka to complete the online Health Declaration Form prior to their arrival in Sri Lanka.

  1. Passenger will fill the web based Health Declaration form attaching the following documents related to the health declaration
  • Vaccination card on the 1st dose and the 2nd  dose
  • Covid-19 rest report done within 72 hours prior to departure
  • Next, the will submit the form online.
  1. Upon submission, passenger will have the facility to capture a QR code and will also receive an email with that QR code.
  2. Health officials at the airport will receive the passenger information before passenger arrives at the airport and they will review the information.
  3. Passengers who have submitted their health declaration forms online, shall submit the QR code (either in the email or in their mobile device) upon arrival, for scanning at the health declaration counter.

 

Re-Opening of On-Arrival ETA Counter at the Bandadaranayake International Airport and Mattala International Airport

 

The Department of Immigration and Emigration has commenced issuing ETA on arrival by re-opening the On-Arrival ETA counter at the Airport for tourists.

 

Please be informed that, issuing on-arrival ETA will be facilitated for tourists who are unable to obtain ETA by online mode due to constraints experienced when arranging their journey to Sri Lanka within a very short period.

This arrangement is available for all nationals except the passport holders of the following countries.

  • Afghanistan
  • Pakistan
  • Syria
  • Nigeria
  • Ghana
  • Ivory Coast
  • Cameroon
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • North Korea

It is advisable to obtain the online ETA by the tourists, where possible, prior to their arrival.

This facility will be provided considering as an essential service requirement by adhering to all COVID-19 preventive measures declared by the Government of Sri Lanka.
