During the Summit of the Future, H.E. the President urged leaders to implement bold reforms at the United Nations Security Council to provide the necessary capacity to tackle the rapidly evolving complex global challenges.

The current international system has proven inadequate in addressing crises such as climate change, inequality, the debt burden and conflict. It continues to falter in providing any, let alone timely, solutions. Without immediate action, humanity will face an unprecedented global crisis.

The Government is dedicated to implementing robust measures that support the Kenyan Diaspora including under the new labour mobility programme dedicated to scanning and expanding opportunities for Kenyans to work in foreign countries.

There are more than 1,800 Kenyans working at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission for Haiti, backed by the United Nations Security Council, continues to yield positive results, restoring hope to the people of the Caribbean nation for a stable and prosperous country.

H.E. the President called to attention the need to seize the opportunity of the last few weeks to realise the mandate of Security Council Resolution 2699.

H.E. the President met the Kenyan Police and committed to deploy 600 more officers in the operation.

World Kiswahili Language Day

The UN General Assembly member states adopted a historic resolution tabled by Kenya and Tanzania on behalf of the African Group proclaiming 7th July as the World Kiswahili Language Day and promoting multilingualism as a core value of the United Nations. The resolution recognized the role played by Kiswahili language in promoting peace, unity, socio-economic development and cultural diversity, as well as creating awareness and fostering dialogues among peoples. Kiswahili is among the 10 most widely spoken languages in the world, with over hundreds of million speakers.
