Post 2015 Development Agenda Zero Draft

After more than two years of negotiations, which started from the Open Working Group to develop Sustainable Development Goals, the Zero Draft document for Post 2015 Development Agenda going the title “Transforming our World by 2030 – a New Agenda for Global Actionis out. It is inspiring, exudes positivity, its focus is people and planet in the 21st century. It puts emphasis on liberating mankind from ‘the tyranny of poverty and want’ and ‘to heal and secure the planet for future generations’

The draft gives regard to the notion of leaving no one behind, encourages all member states to develop ambitious national responses to the SDGs and targets to match the ambition that has been set by the Agenda. It further seeks to define suitable means to achieve sustainable development - Means of Implementation. The agenda is universal, broad and inclusive and seeks to address the social, economic and environmental dimensions in a balanced manner.

The Draft covers four components of the Agenda: an opening Declaration; the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets; Means of Implementation and the Global Partnership; and Follow-up and Review.

The intergovernmental process of putting up the agenda is under the Co-Facilitation of the Permanent Representatives of Kenya and Ireland to the United Nations. Click here to see the zero draft.
