The UAE has co-sponsored United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2347 (2017), on the protection of cultural heritage in the event of armed conflicts, the first ever UNSC resolution to focus specifically on this issue.

NEW YORK, 25th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, recently participated in an interactive panel discussion on "Public Policies for Happiness", co-organised at the United Nations headquarters by the permanent missions of the UAE, Australia, Bhutan, Denmark, Ecuador, Rwanda, Slovenia and Thailand, to mark the International Day of Happiness 2017.

She highlighted the UAE's efforts, government policies and programmes that aim to promote happiness and positive values.

New York – A group of 11 concerned countries warned United Nations (UN) Member States about Iran’s expansionist policies, flagrant violations of the principle of sovereignty, and constant interference in the internal affairs of Arab States that are destabilizing and fomenting tension in the Middle East, in a letter delivered to the UN General Assembly. Co-signatories included Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

UN adopts New Urban Agenda with UAE support

Quito, Ecuador – The 193 countries of the United Nations, joined by over 30,000 delegates, today adopted a milestone new approach to sustainable urban development, with prominent assistance from the United Arab Emirates.  Cities now represent around 80% of global GDP, and by 2050 are expected to grow in population from 3.9 billion in 2014 to 6.3 billion in 2050, making them a priority focus for the international community.
