The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York celebrates Deepavali

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York hosted an event on the occasion of Deepavali on Friday, 9th November 2018, at the Mission premises. The event saw the attendance of Sri Lankan community members in the Tri-State area, both of Hindu faith and others, as well as representatives from other Permanent Missions including the Permanent Representatives and Deputy Permanent Representatives of India, Singapore, and Malaysia, among others.

Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe told the UN General Assembly today (05 September 2018) that Education is vital in promoting a culture of peace. The Minister was speaking at the High Level Forum for a Culture of Peace convened by the President of the General Assembly.

BIMSTEC Leaders decide to rationalize the Organization as Sri Lanka assumes Chairmanship 

Sri Lanka was handed over the Chairmanship of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), at the conclusion of the 4th BIMSTEC Summit held in Kathmandu, on 31 August 2018 .
