United States Permanent Representative Ambassador Samantha Power sought a meeting with former President Mrs. Chandrika Kumaratunga on 11 May 2016 at the Sri Lanka Mission in New York, to discuss matters of mutual interest. Mrs. Kumaratunga briefed the US delegation which included Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Michele Sison, on the reconciliation mechanisms currently underway in Sri Lanka, and the work of the Office of National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) headed by the former President.
