Honourable Carl-Hermann Gustav Schlettwein, Namibian Minister of Finance, travelled to Washington D.C and New York to receive an award in Transparency excellence award provided by African Leadership magazine. He also met with the Namibian business community in New York and met with Mr Liu Zhenmin, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.
On 31 August 2018, Namibia, through H.E Ambassador Neville Gertze, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, depositing the instruments of Acceptance for the “Amendment to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal” and the instruments of Ratification for the “Convention on Cluster Munitions”

With a profound sense of sadness, the President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr. Hage G. Geingob announced on 14 July 2018, the passing of "a friend, a comrade and giant of the Namibian struggle for libreration", Dr. Theo-Ben Gurirab.
Without the country's First Foreign Minister, and one of the leading architects of Namibia's diplomacy, a rich chapter is closing, President Geingob said. Moreover, the President said that the exceptional work of Comrade Gurirab in service of the liberation movement, SWAPO and the Namibian people shall be cherished forever.
On February 27 2018, H.E Neville Gertze, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Namibia and H.E Khalifa Bin Ali Al-Harthy, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations represented their respective countries to establish diplomatic relations. Both countries are guided by their desire to promote ties of friendship and to widen horizons of mutual cooperation.
