MONGOLIAN FOREIGN MINISTER L.PUREVSUREN MEETS PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN SENATE PIETRO GRASSO

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Purevsuren met with President of the Senate of the Italian Republic Pietro Grasso in the State Palace during his official visit to Mongolia.

During the meeting, President of the Italian Senate noted the vast opportunity to develop and broaden the ties between Italy and Mongolia and further expressed his confidence that the Italian Embassy which is to be opened in the near future will play an important role. Besides leather processing, production of cashmere goods and food production he also underlined the opportunity to cooperate in areas such as economy, infrastructure and energy.

Foreign Minister Purevsuren reiterated that the Mongolian side is giving high importance to the visit of the President of the Italian Senate and further expressed his support of the proposals, put forward by President Grasso, to broaden bilateral ties. Minister Purevsuren highlighted that the cultural sector has high potential for broadening bilateral cooperation and sought support to organize a joint complex cultural event in 2020 for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the countries, renew the scholarship programs offered to Mongolian opera singers and bring the administration of La Scala to Mongolia.

Foreign Minister also proposed to cooperate to establish a museum in Mongolia, develop ties in the sport of football and joint research on Mongolian history related documents in the Italian archives.

President Grasso expressed his support of the proposals of the Mongolian side and wished the successful organization of the ASEP Meeting as well as the ASEM Summit.
