"Djibouti punches above its weight is a comment some of you might have heard in reference to the outsize influence we play in regional mediation processes, the stand we take on major global issues and the close proximity with large powers, including the US. Our response is that size does not matter when peace is at stake."
Statement by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Siad Doualeh during the United Nations General Assembly 79th Session General Debate on 30 September 2024
"The US–Djibouti relationship is an important one and both sides need to continue working together to discuss the topics of regional security, international trade, infrastructure development and other issues. The bond between both countries is a vital one in the region and we should make sure that this alliance is preserved."
“On this momentous occasion, we reflect on our armed forces’ commitment to the quest for peace. For over a decade, our armed forces have been a pillar of stability in Somalia, demonstrating our support to our Somali brothers and sisters, and promoting regional peace and security,” - Col Waberi.
“As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Convention of 1949, let us recommit with renewed urgency to the implementation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions for the protection of civilians in armed conflicts and promote accountability.”
