NEW YORK – 19 November 2019 – The UAE underscored the importance of tolerance and dialogue in reconciliation efforts and affirmed the UAE’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and political solutions to address global challenges, during the UN Security Council Open Debate on peacebuilding and sustaining peace specifically the role of reconciliation.
NEW YORK – During the annual UN Security Council Open Debate on women, peace and security (WPS) on 29 October 2019, the UAE emphasized the importance of ensuring the full and meaningful participation of women throughout all stages of peace processes and negotiations. In her statement, H.E. Lana Nusseibeh, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN, outlined the UAE’s efforts to advance the WPS agenda and address the gaps in its implementation.
NEW YORK – The UAE, in its capacity as the Chair of the Group of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), urged the international community to create an environment conducive to peace efforts in the Occupied Palestine Territories by alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and by halting any illegal and provocative measures that undermine the two-state solution.
NEW YORK – On the margins of the High-Level Week on women, peace and security (WPS), the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the United Nations (UN) and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS) launched a new joint initiative on advancing the role of women in post-conflict reconstruction that will be conducted over the next 12 months in the lead-up to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on WPS.

NEW YORK - At the UN Security Council’s annual Open Debate on children and armed conflict, the UAE reaffirmed the commitment of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen–of which the UAE is a member–to complying with obligations under international humanitarian law, and underscored the seriousness with which the Coalition takes its responsibility to protecting all civilians in armed conflict – particularly children.
NEW YORK – At the UN Security Council quarterly Open Debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, the UAE called on the international community to uphold its responsibilities to ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital – in accordance with relevant international parameters and the Arab Peace Initiative.
