Ambassador Perera speaks at the High-Level Event of the General Assembly to mark the global launch of the 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages
The Annual Academic Conference of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) will be held from 29-30 March 2019 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The APQN is a non-governmental and non-profit network with 208 members from 40 countries and territories aiming to enhance the quality of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Biennial Conference of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Eucation (INQAAHE) will be held on 25-28 March 2019 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The INQAAHE is a worl-wide association of apporximately 300 organizations active in the area of quality assurance in higher education.
Sri Lanka participated last week at the Multi Stakeholder Dialogue and Capacity Building Partnership event organized by the UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) within the framework of the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment including Socio-Economic Aspects (Regular Process).

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York hosted a Christmas celebration for members of the Sri Lankan community on 21st December 2018 at the Mission premises. The event commenced with a welcome address by H.E. Dr. Rohan Perera, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka, followed by a short sermon by Rev. Fr. Nalaka Silva.
Ambassador Perera participated in the "Power of One" award ceremony held today (11 Dec) and delivered a few remarks as one of the co-sponsors of the event. In his speech, Ambassador Perera highlighted that Deepavali is a "unique celebration of the values of peace, understanding, compassion and togetherness," and congratulated the honourees for being purveyors of this message.
The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) held its annual pledging conference today (07 December 2018) at the UNHQ, New York.
Ambassador Dr. Amrith Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations noted that since the inception of CERF, Sri Lanka had contributed a sum of USD 90,000 and this year had increased its commitment by a sum of USD 5,000 from last year.
The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York hosted an event on the occasion of Deepavali on Friday, 9th November 2018, at the Mission premises. The event saw the attendance of Sri Lankan community members in the Tri-State area, both of Hindu faith and others, as well as representatives from other Permanent Missions including the Permanent Representatives and Deputy Permanent Representatives of India, Singapore, and Malaysia, among others.
