Dear fellow Namibians and Friends of Namibia,

It is with profound grief that the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Namibia announces the passing away of our National hero, Hon. Herman Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo on Friday, June 9 2017 at the age of 93. An icon of Namibia's liberation struggle, a selfless dedicated, time tested freedom fighter who spent 16 years in detention in Robben Island, South Africa, and has held many ministerial positions in the Government. He left an indelible mark in the history of our people. Our Government has decided to accord the late Cde. Herman Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo a State funeral.
