His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote today officiated at the commissioning of Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Dr. Satyendra Prasad. The ceremony at the Borron House in Suva was attended by the close relatives and friends of Ambassador Dr. Prasad and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Dr. Prasad is known as a Governance and Public Sector Management Specialist. Prior to the appointment as Permanent Representative to UN, Ambassador Dr. Prasad was the Chief Executive Officer for Papua New Guinea Governance Facility from 2016. Ambassador Dr. Prasad has over 15 years of management and policy reform experiences in large-scale whole of government, center of government and government performance, ministry and civil service reform, capacity building and other governance programs. He has worked in senior positions in Government and has been on various international advisory and technical bodies. Ambassador Dr. Prasad has a strong exposure to foreign policy and international development challenges from his previous work experiences with the of Government of Fiji, Government of India, Government of PNG, South Asian countries, and other Pacific Island states. Dr. Prasad was also involved in the design and management of new performance management systems for senior officials of the Fijian Government. Ambassador Dr. Prasad did his Ph.D. Sociology-Development Studies from the Warwick University, United Kingdom. He is expected to leave the country for New York before the end of this month.
