Meeting with UNICEF Regional Director

Angola Permanent Representantive H.E. Francisco José da Cruz, today received UNICEF´s Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Africa, H.E. Mohammed Moustapha Malick Fall.

The two discussed the UNICEF´s new programme for Angola to be approved in September. The programme was elaborated  on the basis of an extensive situation analysis that identified the priority issues and concerns of children, adolescents and girls, as well as a thorough consultation with concerned ministries, other developemnt partners and youth groups.

The new Permanent Representative of Angola to the United nations, Ambassador Francisco da Cruz, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guiterres, on 31 May. 2023.

Prior to his appointment to New York, Ambassador  Francisco da Cruz served as the country's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ethiopia and Djibouti from 2019 to 2023. During that time, he also was the Permanent Representative of Angola to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa(ECA).

Family and Women´s Promotion Minister addresses Security Council Open Debate

H.E. Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, Minister for Social Action, Family and Women´s Promotion, imformed the Security Council that the member states of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community-CPLP, in compliance with resolution 1325, approved the implementation of a National Action Plan " Women, Peace and Security".

Therefor, she considered it necessary to find ways to support local women´s organizartions, as they are , on many occasions,the first line of response to challenges, and manage to have an effective impact on the ground.
