H.E. Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, Minister for Social Action, Family and Women´s Promotion, imformed the Security Council that the member states of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community-CPLP, in compliance with resolution 1325, approved the implementation of a National Action Plan " Women, Peace and Security".
Therefor, she considered it necessary to find ways to support local women´s organizartions, as they are , on many occasions,the first line of response to challenges, and manage to have an effective impact on the ground.
Minister Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto was speaking today, on behalf of the CPLP, at the Open Ministerial Debate of the Security Council under the theme "Women , Peace and Security: Towards the 25th Anniversary of the Resolution 1325".
On the occasion, she assured that the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community will continue to encourage the sending of more women of member states to peacekeeping missions so that not only them, but all our blue helmets continue to work for the effective implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on women , peace and security.
Angola as the current chair of the rotating presidency of the CPLP, addressed the Security Council Ministerial Debate at the invitation of Mozambique, the Council´s president for March.
