Latvian media portals - news agency Baltic News Service, journals Latvia The Baltic Course («Baltic Course") and "Open City" published articles on the upcoming presidential elections in Uzbekistan, the results of the parliamentary elections, as well as the results of socio-economic development of the country for 2014 and the main priorities for current year.

Latvian news agency Baltic News Service (BNS) notes that at the briefing held at the Embassy of the Republic Uzbekistan in Latvia, it was noted that, in accordance with the electoral laws of the Republic, as well as on the basis of the documents submitted, the Central Election Commission of the country allowed to participate in the presidential election four parties. "At a meeting of the Political Council of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) it was decided to nominate for the post of President Islam Karimov, the current leader of Uzbekistan. The People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan - Xatamjon Ketmonov, from the Social Democratic Party "Adolat" - Narimon Umarov, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milly Tiklanish" - Akmal Saidov.

The volume of investment in the economy increased by 10.9% and amounted to the equivalent of 14.6 billion USD.
