UAE Ambassador Nusseibeh Kicks-Off Annual Session of the UN Women Executive Board

NEW YORK – In her capacity as President of the UN Women Executive Board for 2017, Her Excellency Mrs. Lana Nusseibeh, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York, opened the Board’s Annual Session, which convened from June 27 to 28. As President of the Executive Board for 2017, Ambassador Nusseibeh was the key facilitator of the discussions.

NEW YORK  -- The UAE has renewed its commitment to the New Urban Agenda, which was adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development in Quito last year. The framework advocates and promotes policies for the participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities (people of determination) in cities and urban settlements.

NEW YORK - The United Nations General Assembly unanimously elected Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, as one of its 21 Vice-Presidents for the 72nd session. Ambassador Nusseibeh will represent the Asia-Pacific Group of Member States.

NEW YORK – On May 25, 2017, the late United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Afghanistan, His Excellency Mr. Juma Mohammed Abdullah Al Kaabi, was honored with the 2017 Legacy Award posthumously by Women for Afghan Women (WAW) at the organization's annual gala.

WAW’s Legacy Award recognized Ambassador Al Kaabi’s service in Afghanistan, particularly his achievements as a “humanitarian ambassador”, in the presence of several hundred members of the Afghan community in New York, ambassadors and other senior dignitaries.
