At PrepCom2 in August 2025, Tuvalu delivered a statement on behalf of PSIDS. Mr. Fakasoa Tealei, the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, spoke on the agenda item of reporting requirements.
PSIDS underlined that reporting cannot become another layer of bureaucracy. It must be streamlined, transparent, and tied to COP cycles, with financial and technical support that meets the realities of SIDS. The statement called for joint or collective reporting where practical, consolidated reports instead of fragmented submissions, and electronic tools designed to ease workloads. Subsidiary bodies, with their expertise, must shape reporting frameworks that are coherent and effective.
For PSIDS, reporting must empower, not burden. It must deliver fairness, efficiency, and impact. That is the standard PSIDS will continue to press for on the road to COP1.
