At the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Hon. Feleti Penitala Teo delivered Tuvalu’s national statement, reaffirming Tuvalu’s commitment to global cooperation, climate action, and human rights. This year, September 2025, also marks Tuvalu’s 25th anniversary of membership in the United Nations—a milestone that underscores the nation’s enduring voice and presence on the global stage.
The Prime Minister underscored the existential threat of sea level rise, called for scaled-up adaptation finance and operationalizing the Loss and Damage Fund, and announced Tuvalu’s 3rd Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
He also emphasized inclusivity, highlighting gender equality and the role of youth in building a just and sustainable future. On global issues, he urged Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the UN system and called for the lifting of sanctions on Cuba to support recovery and development.
As Tuvalu approaches its 47th Independence Anniversary, the Prime Minister’s words carried a call for unity: “No challenge is insurmountable when we face it together, in solidarity and unity of purpose.”
