Tuvalu at the AOSIS Leaders’ Meeting | UNGA80

Hon. Dr Maina Vakafua Talia, Minister of Home Affairs, Climate Change and Environment, attended the AOSIS Leaders’ Meeting on the margins of UNGA80.

Minister Talia delivered Tuvalu’s intervention on how AOSIS can leverage the Sevilla Commitment to transform access to finance, mainstream the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index, advance debt sustainability, and accelerate implementation of the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS) and the 2030 Agenda.

The meeting was also notable as AOSIS Leaders adopted the AOSIS Leaders’ Declaration on the Special Circumstances of SIDS, a critical milestone in advancing the collective priorities of small island states.

Tuvalu reaffirmed its solidarity with the AOSIS family, stressing that vulnerabilities must be recognized and priorities addressed if no island is to be left behind.
