This afternoon, the Ambassador of Tuvalu to the United Nations, H.E. Mr Tapugao Falefou, and the Ambassador of Germany H.E. Mr Thomas Zahneisen witnessed a new contribution agreement, marking Germany’s commitment of EUR 1 million to the Rising Nations Initiative through the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM).

This contribution will support the creation of a digital repository to safeguard Tuvalu’s culture, history, and heritage, an essential part of protecting our identity and sovereignty as a Pacific atoll nation on the frontlines of climate change.

Tuvalu welcomes this continued partnership with Germany and the GCCM, and we look forward to working closely with the German Archaeological Institute to ensure this work reflects our people, our stories, and our future.
