Yesterday Monday, 4 May 2026, the Permanent Mission of Tuvalu to the United Nations had the distinct pleasure of welcoming three of Tuvalu’s emerging young leaders - Adrianna Tausau, Igamila Neemaia, and Seuila Siila at a dinner hosted by Ambassador and Permanent Representative H.E. Mr. Tapugao Falefou in New York.
Held at Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse, the evening marked the commencement of their participation in the YA-EAP Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State (ECA), while also serving as a welcoming gesture by the Ambassador to receive the students upon their arrival in New York.
Having arrived on Sunday, 3 May 2026 alongside fellow participants from across the Pacific, New York served as their first stop, where they spent two nights. They depart today, Tuesday, 5 May 2026, to continue their programme across the United States, concluding in Washington, D.C. before returning home to Tuvalu.
During the dinner, the students shared their future career aspirations, offering a glimpse into the ambitions and potential of Tuvalu’s next generation of leaders.
The evening provided a warm and engaging setting for the students to connect with Mission staff, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting youth development. In closing, Ambassador Falefou presented the students with tokens of appreciation on behalf of the Mission—symbolic of encouragement and a reminder of the important role they may one day play in representing Tuvalu, both in New York and beyond.
The Mission extends its sincere best wishes to Adrianna, Igamila, and Seuila for a meaningful and successful journey throughout the programme.
