Today, here in New York City, Dr. Tapugao Falefou joined fellow ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps during the State Visit programme at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at Ground Zero. The visit formed a solemn and reflective component of the official itinerary, as His Majesty King Charles III paid tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks.
Today, Dr. Tapugao Falefou was in attendance at the official arrival ceremony held on the South Lawn of the White House in honour of His Majesty, marking a key moment in the State Visit program. The ceremony, hosted by President Donald J. Trump, brought together senior government officials, diplomatic representatives, and invited guests to formally welcome His Majesty and underscore the significance of the occasion. The event was conducted with full ceremonial honours, reflecting the importance of the bilateral relationship and the longstanding ties between the two nations.
Dr. Tapugao Falefou attended the British Ambassador’s garden party in Washington, D.C., joining a distinguished gathering of diplomats, government officials, community representatives, and international partners to mark the opening of the State Visit. The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and strengthen relationships within the diplomatic community.
Tuvalu’s voice was represented at the 2026 High-Level Financing for Development (FFD) Forum today, as Ms. Tinai Kepa, First Secretary and Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of Tuvalu to the United Nations, delivered the country’s National Statement during the General Debate.
At the EarthX Congress of Conferences in Dallas, Texas, Ambassador Tapugao Falefou also contributed to the panel discussion, “Digital Sovereignty: Rebuilding Nations Through Technology.”
The session explored how frontline nations are leveraging digital infrastructure, blockchain technologies, and innovative systems to safeguard governance, national identity, and state continuity in the face of climate change.
