Mr. President,

Distinguished Members of the Council,

The Philippines reaffirms its unwavering support for the full and immediate implementation of UNSC Resolution 2735 (2024) and all relevant UNSC and UNGA resolutions to establish a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza. We urge all concerned parties to implement these resolutions without delay or conditions.

Humanitarian situation

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire. The Philippines joins the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire, cessation of hostilities, and the unconditional release of all hostages. We are gravely concerned about the escalating violence and its devastating impact on civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly.

UNRWA

We reaffirm our strong support for UNRWA and commend the extraordinary efforts of UNRWA and other UN agencies in delivering urgent humanitarian assistance and essential supplies to the Gaza Strip under extremely challenging conditions. It is imperative that all parties respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and ensure the essential needs of trapped civilians and refugees are met.

Two-state Solution

The Philippines reiterates its firm support for a two-state solution, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve to live in peace, where their rights, aspirations, and security are recognized and upheld.

Peace and Diplomacy

Diplomacy remains the cornerstone of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East. We recognize that the conflict can only be resolved through diplomatic engagement, dialogue, and comprehensive negotiations rooted in international law. We urge all parties to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict, with a view to realizing the two-state solution.

The Philippines supports the initiatives of Saudi Arabia, the European Union, and the League of Arab States, in cooperation with Egypt and Jordan, to revive the Middle East peace process and resolve the dispute between Israel and its neighbors in accordance with international law and all relevant UN resolutions.

Mr. President, the Philippines stands ready to contribute to efforts that foster peace, security, and stability in the Middle East. We call on the international community to continue its support for diplomatic and humanitarian efforts, and to work together towards a just and lasting peace for all.
