Tangier | DGACM

On 2 June 2016, Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management Catherine Pollard signed in Tangier, Morocco, on behalf of the United Nations, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the King Fahd School of Translation, Abdelmalek Essaadi University. The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for cooperation in training conference translators and interpreters qualified to work for the United Nations.


New UN Stamps: Sport for Peace

On 22 July 2016, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) will issue a set of stamps to promote the contribution of sport to peace and to highlight the Olympic Truce. The date of issue comes exactly a week ahead of the start of the Olympic Truce period for this year’s 2016 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Data—and the technology to transform it into insightful information—are essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One challenge is transferring that technology to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and building capacity so that governments can use high quality, accessible, timely, and reliable information to facilitate decision-making and policymaking.
