PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE S.SUKHBOLD DELIVERS STATEMENT ON MACROECONOMIC POLICY QUESTIONS AT THE PLENARY OF SECOND COMMITTEE

On 28 October, 2015 H.E. Mr. Sukhbold Sukhee, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations delivered a statement on macroeconomic policy questions at the Plenary of the Second Committee of the 70th Session of the UNGA.

Ambassador S.Sukhbold said that although Mongolia has experienced steadfast growth in the mining sector in the last decade, the economy grew more dependent on a few commodity exports and became more vulnerable to fluctuations in prices on international markets. He further elaborated that a major policy goal for my Government was to diversify the economy through further integration with international markets and improvement of resource utilization efficiency.

Ambassador S.Sukhbold explained that sovereign debt has risen sharply and reached 58.3 per cent of GDP. He stressed that the Mongolian delegation supported the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Debt Restructuring Mechanism which was established by a GA resolution.
