On 13 October, H.E.Mr. Sukhee Sukhbold made statement on women's issues at the Third Committee of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly. As advancement of women is one of the most universal and debated agenda items, this year, there were some 125 delegations inscribed to the list of speakers.
In the beginning of his speech, Ambassador S. Sukhbold reaffirmed Mongolia's strong commitment to the full implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcome of the Twenty-third Special session of the General Assembly and informed that the periodic report of Mongolia will be submitted to the CEDAW Committee in 2016.
Further he elaborated achievements and shortcomings under the gender-focused MDG 3 at national level and highlighted the critical need for undertaking more robust and innovative approaches to promote gender mainstreaming into legal and policy documents, boost investments to close gender gap, increase gender ratio at decision-making level and engage all stakeholders including men and boys into activities aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls within the framework of the newly adopted Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, namely, its Goal 5 - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
