AMBASSADOR, PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE S.SUKHBOLD DELIVERED 
THE STATEMENT AT THE 4TH COMMITTEE’S SESSION.

Ambassador, Permanent Representative S.Sukhbold delivered the statement at the general debate of the Special political and decolonization committee (4th committee) under agenda item “Comprehensive review of the whole question of peacekeeping operations ” on 4 November 2015. He stressed in his statement that Mongolia welcomed the reports of the High Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations and of the UN Secretary General on “The future of United Nations peace operations: implementation of the recommendations of the High-level Independent Panel on Peace Operations”, it would continue actively to participate in considering two reports at General Assembly, 4th committee and Special Committee on Peacekeeping operation (C34). Ambassador S.Sukhbold also noted that UN peacekeepers were not deployable for targeted offensive action against armed militias, non-state actors and terrorists, UN should follow the main principles of UN peacekeeping  such as consent of the parties, impartiality and the non-use of force except in self-defense and defense of the mandate.

Ambassador, Permanent Representative S.Sukhbold stated about the contribution of Mongolia in UN peacekeeping operations, and encouraged States to participate in the peacekeeping training and exercises to be conducted in Mongolia. He noted that the Government of Mongolia obligated to enhance its  participation in United Nations Peacekeeping missions step by step and would take all necessary steps for the preparing of the individual police officers for the United Nations Peacekeeping operation, and a new contribution of engineering company 2016-2018.
