Today, Ambassador Od OCH had a meeting with Mr.Ganbold Byambaa, Vice-President and Ms. Munkhtsetseg Batmunkh, Executive Director of the Mongolian Family Welfare Association (MFWA), who are attending the "Informal interactive hearing with representatives of NGOs, CSOs, major groups and private sector on the post-2015 development agenda" being held in New York on 26-27 May 2015.
While representatives of the MFWA introduced their 21 year long activities aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health in Mongolia, Ambassador congratulated the MFWA for becoming the first Mongolian NGO receiving an ECOSOC consultative status. The consultative status provides NGOs with access to not only ECOSOC, but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, ad-hoc processes on small arms, as well as special events organized by the President of the General Assembly. Currently, 4 045 NGOs from all over the world enjoy consultative status with ECOSOC.
