Mr. Chair,
1. My delegation aligns itself with the statements delivered by the distinguished representatives of Viet Nam on behalf of ASEAN and Uganda on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.
2. The international community currently faces multiple crises—including economic and financial instability, food and energy insecurity, and severe natural disasters—that have significantly impacted socio-economic development and reversed progress on sustainable development.
3. Developing countries, particularly those in special situations such as least developed countries (LDCs) and landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), continue to face profound challenges due to low productivity, limited market access, poverty, and vulnerability to external shocks. These obstacles hinder their efforts to achieve national development goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In response, my delegation stresses the critical importance of strengthening partnerships and multilateral cooperation to ensure that no one is left behind. It is imperative that the international community work collectively to adopt concrete measures that effectively address ongoing global crises and promote sustainable development.
4. At the national level, the Lao PDR remains firmly committed to the implementation of the SDGs through its National Socio-Economic Development Plan and Vision 2030, all of which prioritize inclusive social development and poverty eradication. Efforts to graduate from LDC status are ongoing, supported by strategies focusing on green growth, human resource development, regulatory reform, and social protection for vulnerable populations. The preparation of the 10th NSEDP (2026–2030) will continue to emphasize poverty reduction and leaving no one behind.
5. Despite progress, challenges remain, including economic vulnerabilities, natural disasters, rural-urban disparities, poverty eradication, disaster preparedness, technology transfer, and digital connectivity.
6. The Lao Government looks forward to sharing its perspectives and contributing to the upcoming Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, to help build a solid foundation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
7. In conclusion, my delegation reaffirms its steadfast commitment to multilateralism and enhanced cooperation with Member States, UN agencies, and partners. We express our sincere gratitude for the continued support extended to the Lao PDR to overcome current and future challenges.
Thank you.
