Your Excellency Premier Li Qiang,
Excellencies,
At the outset, I would like to thank His Excellency Premier Li Qiang for convening this important high-level meeting under the theme “Recommit to our original aspirations, United to build a brighter future of global development”, which serves as a crucial platform for advancing sustainable and inclusive development.
Excellencies,
The Lao PDR firmly supports the vision of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) to strengthen international cooperation in accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, promoting inclusive growth, and ensuring that no one is left behind. In preparation for LDC graduation, the Lao PDR sees the benefits of this initiative, which offers more opportunities to mobilize adequate resources, build resilience, and foster partnerships for sustainable development.
In line with this vision, the Lao PDR has pursued a development path that places strong emphasis on poverty alleviation, human capital development, and sustainable economic growth. Guided by our 9th Five Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, we are implementing policies to enhance food security, rural development, and access to quality education and healthcare services. At the same time, we are also implementing our National Green Growth Strategy, focusing on clean and green energy, proper natural resource management, and enhancing climate resilience. Likewise, digital transformation has also become a key priority for modernizing economic transition, improving connectivity and innovation. These national priorities are closely aligned with the key areas identified under the GDI, reflecting our shared vision for stronger, greener, and healthier global development.
The Lao PDR remains committed to ensuring a smooth and sustainable transition for LDC graduation. While this milestone reflects our progress, it also brings new challenges, including the potential loss of international support measures. In this context, we view the GDI as an essential platform to help countries in special situations to navigate these challenges through strengthened cooperation. On this note, the Lao PDR urges the international community to work more closely together in implementing the GDI, making sure that development gains are equitably shared among all nations.
Excellencies,
In conclusion, I reaffirm the Lao PDR’s unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of the GDI, and we stand ready to work closely with all partners to advance inclusive and sustainable development.
Thank you.
