Mr. Chair,
Excellencies,
At the outset, on behalf of the Government of the PDR, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Government of Iraq for its able and commendable leadership as Chair of the Group of 77 and China.
Mr. Chair,
As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, we are reminded of the founding vision of a multilateral system rooted in solidarity, cooperation, and shared progress.
My delegation believes that multilateralism remains essential for achieving the 2030 Agenda. We call on all partners to reaffirm their commitments, particularly in advancing climate action, reforming the global financial architecture, ensuring equitable access to technology, and respecting nationally-owned development policies and strategies.
The Lao PDR affirms its support for ongoing UN reform programs, particularly under the Development pillar, and calls for these reforms to be transparent, inclusive, and driven by Member States, reflecting the priorities of developing countries. We further emphasize the role of regional, South-South and Triangular Cooperation, based on mutual respect, benefit and knowledge-sharing, in promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
Mr. Chair,
With only five years remaining to achieve the 2030 Agenda, many countries especially developing nations continue to face significant challenges in securing adequate financing to implement the SDGs. These challenges include mobilizing large-scale investment, addressing debt burdens, and reforming the international financial architecture, all of which are critical for LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS. My delegation believes that the Compromiso de Seville can be successfully implemented through strong national ownership, enhanced multilateral cooperation, and innovative financing strategies.
We firmly believe that the G77 Ministerial Declaration reflects the collective interests of its members. We urge development partners, international organizations, the private sector, and other stakeholders to provide robust and scaled-up support in realizing our development priorities. At this critical juncture, we must renew our commitment to an inclusive, just, and resilient multilateral system, advancing the 2030 Agenda and leaving no one behind.
Mr. Chair,
In conclusion, let me assure you of the Lao PDR’s full commitment to working closely with all member states to advance the shared vision and interests of our group.
I thank you.
