Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade today (Thursday, November 8) received the Copy Letters of Introduction of Mrs. Laurie Jane Peters, High Commissioner-designate for Canada to Jamaica,at the Foreign Ministry’s new Kingston location.
Minister Johnson Smith and High Commissioner Peters spoke to the historical friendship and strong cooperation between both countries, and affirmed their intention of building an even stronger partnership.
Among other areas discussed were: Security cooperation; Justice Reform; Trade; Community development programmes; Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Programme, Jamaica’s Gender Equity Policy and the National Strategic Plan to Eliminate Violence against Women and disaster relief.
