On 11^th December 2017, the Government of Jamaica and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan formalised diplomatic relations through the execution of a Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations.

His Excellency Mr. E. Courtenay Rattray, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations signed the Communiqué on behalf of Jamaica, and His Excellency Mr. MahamadaminMahmadaminov, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations signed on behalf of the Republic of Tajikistan.
