President Ashe meets with H.E., Mr. Francisco Cortorreal, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Francisco Cortorreal, newly appointed Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations, who presented his credentials to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 16 April, 2014.

Discussions focused on the work of the President of the General Assembly in 'setting the stage' for the elaboration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, whereby Ambassador Cortorreal expressed the Dominican Republic's full support and cooperation. The newly appointed Ambassador noted the upcoming participation of top government officials from his country at the President's next High-level event on the "Contributions of North-South, South-South, Triangular Cooperation, and ICT for Development to the implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda", slated for 21-22, May. President Ashe welcomed the support expressed for the High-level event and for all General Assembly activities.

Ambassador Cortorreal also expressed his hopes for the enhancement and expansion of relations and cooperation between the Dominican Republic and neighbouring Caribbean nations.
