Welcome - welkam!

It is my great pleasure to welcome, or as we say in our local language Bislama, welkam you to the website of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations in New York.

The website aims at providing you with a comprehensive overview of our country Vanuatu, as well as the work of the Mission at the United Nations.

Vanuatu is a beautiful country, inhabited by beautiful, lovely and proud people. Vanuatu was rated as the happiest place in the world in 2006, per Happy Planet Index. Wherever you go in Vanuatu, you will always meet gentle people who are happy to meet you and will greet you with a big smile. If you have the possibility, I can only recommend to visit our beautiful country.

The values of our people also translate to what the country stands for in the multilateral system. Through its Mission at the United Nations the Republic  of Vanuatu engages in discussions to promote sustainable development, human rights and peace. The website contains various thematic sections where you can find more information on Vanuatu's role at the United Nations. Furthermore, external links lead you to other relevant websites regarding Vanuatu.

With best wishes,

Odo Tevi

Ambassador (Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary) and Permanent Representative
