On June 1, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
The leaders of the two countries considered in detail the issues related to the incident occurred on the eve at Chashma border section, and emphasized the importance of taking comprehensive measures to prevent a recurrence of such a situation. Fruitful results of the negotiations of government delegations were noted.
An agreement was reached for intensifying efforts aimed at resolving existing issues in bilateral relations and identifying new growth points for practical cooperation, primarily in trade, economic, investment, transport and communication spheres.
In this regard, the proposal to hold regular meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Commission and the Council of Heads of Administrations of the border regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was supported.
During the conversation, the need was noted for continuing close coordination and interagency exchanges for counteracting the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic spread.
Presidents also exchanged views on the current issues of the international and regional agenda.
The heads of state reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the benefit of fraternal people of the two countries.
