NEW YORK, 02 October 2025 — H.E. Enrique A. Manalo, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of the Philippines, paid a courtesy call on Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, on 02 October 2025 at UN Headquarters.
Ambassador Manalo reaffirmed the Philippines’ readiness to work closely with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, particularly in his capacity as Chair of the Sixth Committee. He conveyed the Philippines’ commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, underscored the importance of upholding the rule of law and the international legal order, and highlighted his readiness to engage on issues requiring coordinated action with the PGA’s Office.
Discussions also addressed emerging legal issues addressed in the Sixth Committee, the principal forum for the consideration of legal matters in the General Assembly. Ambassador Manalo reaffirmed commitment to the Sixth Committee’s mandate in the codification and progressive development of international law, including in sustaining progress in its current work.
PGA Baerbock stressed that international law and the UN Charter remain central to preserving a rules-based multilateral system and welcomed cooperation in this regard. END
