H.E. Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Permanent Representative of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to the United Nations, spoke today at the 11th Emergency Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Ukraine.

In her intervention, Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett expressed the Government of Guyana’s grave concern over the recent military intervention by the Russian Federation, in violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomacy.

The Emergency Special Session on Ukraine commenced on 28th February and is convened at the request of the UN Security Council, under the resolution 377 A (V) entitled “Uniting for Peace”.
