Permanent Representative, Ambassador Michael Ten-Pow expresses Guyana's condolences to the Permanent Mission and People of Cuba on the Passing of former President Fidel Castro

To the Government and people of Cuba, words cannot adequately express the depth of the feeling of sadness and solidarity which the Government and people of Guyana feel towards you at this time.

Your leader has made an indelible mark on the people of the global South and has emblazoned his name and the name of Cuba across the 20th century. His was an example of courage, sacrifice and generosity in sharing with other peoples in and outside of the Caribbean region.

The people of Guyana will not easily forget the selfless solidarity of Cuban doctors and medical personnel who have made and continue to make a sterling contribution to the public health services of Guyana. Nor will we forget the generations of Guyanese who have benefited from training in Cuban universities and institutions of higher learning.

May the name of the Commander live long in the pages of history. Viva Fidel! Viva el pueblo fraterno de Cuba!
